The Silliest Thing

What's the silliest thing you remember doing?

Mine's running a bath, switching the water off, getting back to my PC for while before going back to jump in the bath ... no water - forgot to put the plug in

Re: The Silliest Thing

I flashed people out a window once.

Because from the outside it looked reflective.

And somebody waved to us.

Yeah. It wasn't reflective.

Re: The Silliest Thing

One of my sillier driving things, commentary courtesy of my brother upon me approaching a roundabout:
"Mark's going to be really clever and nip in ahead of this landrover"
"Mark's going to be really clever and tuck in behind this landrover"
"Mark's going to be really stupid and broadside this landrover"
Which I promptly did (tho, to my credit, slammed on the brakes so didn't hit hard!!). Pride the only casualty......... and a mangled wing (anyone remember the tinfoil of Renault 5 Turbos?). The landrover wasn't even scratched!

Re: The Silliest Thing

Ok here's another one, which Mark just reminded me of ...

On my way to my first-ever radio interview, so was quite hyped up, no satnav in those days ... found myself on the wrong road (as usual), which had an island in the middle separating the two-ways of traffic. Going, going, going, no turn-offs to get off this @*%$ road. Time's getting short, so I made a decision. I did a U turn over the very shallow island. Only the island was a bit higher than it looked ... I got stuck like a see-saw + had to wait for someone to stop + help me push it off

Footnote: This wasn't in UK.

Re: The Silliest Thing

These are in chronological order

I once stuck a screwdriver in a mains socket then touched it to see what would happen.

Threw a snowball at someones house window. Owner chased me all the way home AND turned out to be a policeman.

Out of control wheelied my little sisters 50cc moped into the side of a neighbors car and then ran away.

When very drunk I stole a street sign for "Wester Coates Terrace" which must have been about 5ft long. Shoved it up my jumper and got the bus back to the halls of residence. When I got off the bus the police where waiting for me.

Jumped out a moving car coz a wasp came in the window.

I regularly put the coffee in the fridge.

Re: The Silliest Thing

I once got a bit distracted after going shopping and put my sunglasses in the fridge and the butter in my bag. It was summer. And very hot.

Re: The Silliest Thing

Once drove to London for a meeting, took ages to find a parking spot (just before Xmas and massive queue for car park), leaped out of car to put jacket on (on passenger seat) shutting/locking driver's door. Sadly, I hadn't unlocked passenger door (anyone remember pre-central locking? LOL!) and, yup, keys in car. Managed to break in, walked to office...... which had obviously "moved" - I was meant to be in Kingston and had parked in Richmond! Doh! Turned up for my 9:00 appointment at 12:00

Re: The Silliest Thing

Years ago, shortly after moving into our present house,my wife asked me to put some bread on the lawn to feed the birds.Realising Sue was watching through the window I started dancing and pirouetting around the lawn scattering bread high into the air, and singing in a falsetto voice "Birdies birdies....where are all the birdies"As it was making Sue roar with laughter I gave it all I'd got! Finally I stopped and as I walked back to the house,I saw the next door neighbours and their children watching me from their bedroom window with shocked looks on their faces.
Not really knowing them that well I spent the next few weeks making sure I avoided them at every opportunity.

Re: The Silliest Thing

Driving a Lancia beta passed the road closed signs at snake pass A57 on a dark foggy snowy evening, the snow plough had only gone so far then turned around. I managed to bury the Lancia up to its windscreen in the resulting wall of snow left by the plough.

Re: The Silliest Thing

I am EXTREMELY afraid of snakes i wont even look at them in the enclosures at the zoo and i was heavily pregnant with my daughter at the time. we were coming home from a wedding and driving along and there is a snake on the road. it looked squashed and usually i start paniking but because it was squashed i wasnt so bad. anyway coming up to it and next thing it lifted its head up in the air and i heard it hit the front bumper. i still to this day dont know how but i had both legs up and feet in the seat while having this massive belly sitting in the middle and i was screaming "it in the car! its in the car!" then realised that we were slowing down and if it wasnt in the car it was catching up. everyone in the car was laughing which i didnt think was funny at all at the time. now i will have a little laugh though.
