Mount Pilatus

Mount Pilatus is a landmark sight just outside of Luzern. To go to the top, you take the ferry to Alpnachstad and then ride a funicular up to the top (with amazing views as you go up).

Pilatus from the lake (early morning)

The funicular up to the top & the view from the top

I climbed down to the path away to get this shot (in the lower right corner of the image above) - also meant I had to climb back up. It was very steep and physically tasking. In the full resolution version, you can see the tiny people on the trail going up/down.

Re: Mount Pilatus

Thing with some shots like the last is the effort is sometimes made seem small by the scale. If there are dots of people in that image then that is one steep climb! Looks like there was a snow field next to you, did you take that ?

Nice views and shots as usual

Re: Mount Pilatus

Thank you Woody and Chis for your comments. Chris, yes there was snow on the ground in patches around the area. The snow fields/patches were mostly slush at the time. A few of the trails at the top were still closed because of snow/ice coverage.

It was a steep climb - both the decent and the ascent were tough on the legs and knees (the talus deposits worked the ankles too). Seeing the people on the web-sized image is not possible (too much compression) - the print size for these images (multi-frames stitched together) is at least 18x36 inches
