A bridge in Edinburgh

I like B&W but don't feel confident about the end product, but I suppose it's all about practice. Comments are welcome on my effort.

Re: A bridge in Edinburgh

No B&W expert - I like the arch -but there seems something awry with the pavement and background building.

Re: A bridge in Edinburgh

from me. To me, it's overprocessed, the underside of the arch of the bridge is soot and whitewash, and overall it seems to display a lack of confidence in photography as a medium that means you want to make a photograph look like it didn't come from a camera.

On the other side of the coin, I know that HDR (which is what this looks like) is very popular, and the "gritty" look of black and white is much prized in many circles. Just not in mine

Apologies for being blunt. The composition was good, although had the foreground figure been a little further back it would have been stronger. A good photograph ruined for me by the processing.

* Other opinions are available.

Re: A bridge in Edinburgh

Scotty, I agree with Stephen, it is over processed, looks like you were trying to turn it into a pencil drawing but have not succeeded. Subject is good for B&W worth another try.

I probably over worked it a bit.
