| MonoChrome Photography: Discuss Coiled python...I did this conversion for two reasons really, I liked the texture but I also liked the sort of abstract ... |

Re: Coiled python
had to look close to see it was a snake at first, nice shape, and texture i would have liked to see, maybe a spot of colour in the eye, i think that would have made the snake look more .... [weird word .. fuller]

Re: Coiled python
Nice although a find the conversion a touch contrasty and bright (bottom right!), and also wonder if the snakes natural browns might also look nice. You decided to go mono so perhaps you already thought they didn't

Re: Coiled python
Both points entirely valid, thanks for those Bain and Jack. My reasoning was mainly because I liked the confusion that the patternation of the snake combined with its coil made and this was exacerbated by being in mono. It makes you look a bit more closely to make sense of it. There was no colour in the eye bain, even in the coloured version the eye is black so it would have been artificial to put some colour into it. I completely agree about the bottom right being too bright, it is drawing the eye away a bit.
Thanks for those thoughts. Anyone else, feel free to give your feedback ![]() Cheers, Rob

Re: Coiled python
I like it a lot.
Would have been nice if it had been all in tack sharp focus as the close crop does away with perspective that the DOF puts back to a minor extent. |

Re: Coiled python
Great Shot Rob, but IMO it would have looked better in color since Pythons usually have great colors specially since this one fills the the whole frame.
good shot none the less |
