Press Release
Realviz, is pleased to confirm that it is now possible for users of their acclaimed photo-based software applications, VTour and ImageModeler (Windows users, Mac to follow) to create geo-referenced 3D scenes for Google Earth. 3D models, virtual tours and other photo-realistic material created with ImageModeler 4 and version 1.1 of VTour, available from this week, can now be directly exported and published in Google Earth, pin-pointing exact geographical positioning, courtesy of the Google Earth 3D viewer. ImageModeler is the solution to create photo-realistic 3D models from multiple photographs. This image-based modeling software is extremely useful to create models of buildings, houses, or other objects of any size, provided that you can shoot pictures around the object. VTour draws on the award-winning technology of Stitcher® and ImageModeler and enables users to create 3D environments such as interiors, or urban areas using polygonal photo-textured primitives, from a single photo or single panorama. Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at the fingertips of users worldwide. ImageModeler and VTour export photo-realistic 3D models (polygons and texture maps) to Google Earth using the COLLADA (Collaborative Design Activity) file format. COLLADA is an open standard XML file format developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., which is now supported by many 3D applications including: Google Earth (from version 4), SOFTIMAGE XSI, Autodesk 3ds Max & Maya, Blender...etc. The exported file can simply be dragged and dropped to its exact location in Google Earth, then exported as a KML file that you can share with anyone on the planet. New Autodesk Maya export in Realviz VTour 1.1 for Windows: VTour 1.1 now also comes with a completely new export to Autodesk Maya for a complete integration in the most widely used 3D production chains. This new feature offers the following benefits: * It exports camera, 3D models, textures, 3D points, coordinate system, environment maps * It automatically provides the necessary Maya hierarchy for the exported data * It automatically creates an environment map from the original spherical panorama * It provides the MEL script to help the creation of multi-environment projects. This export for VTour 1.1 is compatible with Maya from version 6.0. Availability & Pricing: ImageModeler 4 is available for Microsoft Windows through Realviz resellers worldwide at a price point of €750 (approx £510) Existing owners of version 4 of ImageModeler can now download this latest version of the software, including the COLLADA export, from the Realviz website free of charge. The COLLADA exporter for ImageModeler for Macintosh will be available on the same date as the release of VTour 1.1 for Mac next month. Existing owners of ImageModeler may also upgrade to ImageModeler 4, including the new COLLADA export, and receive a 20% discount. VTour 1.1, including the Maya and COLLADA export, is available for Windows 2000/XP at a price point of €499 (approx £340). The new 1.1 patch can also be downloaded by existing owners of version 1.0 free of charge. A Mac version will be available from October 2006. 20% Discount for New Users: New users of ImageModeler and VTour can obtain 20% discount when they buy between now and the end of September 2006. |
