Apple Inc releases Safari 3.1.1 to address three major security flaws

Apple Inc has released version 3.1.1 of its Safari web browser for Macintosh and Windows computers. This update addresses three major security flaws in Safari, including an attack demonstrated at a recent hacker convention. These weaknesses could allow malicious programs or attackers to take control of Safari and use it to either steal personal data or direct users to spoof websites where they might be vulnerable to fraud. Safari 3.1.1 is available for users running Mac OSX Tiger (10.4.11) and Leopard (10.5.2) as well as Microsoft Windows XP and Vista.

We strongly recommend installing this update as soon as possible. The easiest way for Mac users to install the update is to run the Software Update program which can be found in System Preferences on the Dock, or through the Apple menu at the top-left of the screen. Your Mac will automatically find the appropriate update and prompt you to install the program. Alternatively, you can download the update from Apple's download page which is linked below. Windows users can find the update on Apple's Safari site. The Windows version of Safari doesn't have an option to update itself automatically - so you have to do it manually from the Safari update site. It's an 18.6Mb download. However, there is an installable option available which you can now select with the Safari Installer for Windows which allows you to "Automatically update Safari and other Apple software"

You may have to restart your computer after installing the update. Please ensure you save any work before performing the update.

Why is it that every time a new version of Safari comes out, it is fixing a really important security flaw.....

Cause its made by Apple

Seriously, I only ever report updates that effect security so there could well have been updates in between that just added features.

Same goes for all programs I report on - not just for Apple.
