"New year, new rumours

With the annual PMA photo dealer convention and trade show taking place in Las Vegas in a few weeks (see PMAI) rumours of new EOS products are starting to appear.
For the most part, the rumours are based on speculation. These days, Canon guards information about new DSLR products very closely - even the names of new cameras are known by only a few select groups of people before the launch day.
If the last few years are a reliable guide, there will be a press conference in the third week of February. If there are any new EOS products, we will send an EOS-mail newsletter giving you details.


In the meantime, don't rely on what you see on the internet. For example, there is currently an EF 50mm f1.8L lens for sale on eBay. The only problem is that Canon has never manufactured an L-series 50mm f1.8 lens!"

I have been hearing rumours about a 1ds MKIII.
Apparently they have increased the battery life by including a set of car battery jump leads should you wish to fill more than one 256meg card.
Still, it's worth walking home for some things.

If I had a major retail company I for one would definitely have someone watching Ebay as much as possible. It is already responsible for a huge percentage of all purchases made on the internet and companies ignore it at their peril.
