As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations in 2007, the GDPU is inaugurating Scotland’s first digital photographic salon. This exciting new venture will, for the first time, allow any photographer resident in Scotland to participate in a national photographic competition. The GDPU is a renowned leader in the development of club-based photography and has a reputation for professional high quality photographic events. Its Annual Exhibition and Salon are widely supported.

The GDPU Scottish Digital Salon will be no exception. A dedicated website at GDPU Digital: Welcome to the GDPU Scottish Digital Salon 2007 is now live and all the information about the salon will be provided there.

The competition will cater for all types of photographer but will be fully digital in its entries, judging and reporting. There will be Colour and Monochrome sections based on ’conventional’ images and a Creative section where the accent is on ’altered reality’.

The GDPU is an umbrella organisation that exists to promote co-operation and competition among it's affiliated clubs, which at this time numbers near 30 clubs across the central belt of Scotland - not only Glasgow based clubs but from as far west as Ayr (Ayrshire) and east to Livingston (West Lothian).
