Press release:
HARMAN technology Limited, the pioneering imaging specialist, is set to showcase its new HARMAN PHOTO inkjet papers at this year’s Focus on Imaging exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC. Les McLean, the leading photographer, industry writer and teacher will attend the HARMAN stand on all four days of the show, from February 25 to 28. Whilst demonstrating the unique photographic inkjet paper, Les will also be offering technical advice and information to help photographers generate the best possible photographic inkjet prints. Howard Hopwood, Marketing Director at HARMAN technology commented, “Focus on Imaging is one of the biggest events in the UK Photographic industry calendar, and it is great opportunity to showcase our new products. The response we had to the products at Photokina in Cologne and Photoplus in New York City last year was fantastic, so I am confident we will generate a lot of interest at the show. We have worked with Les for many years on the monochrome photographic side of our business, but having him on board for Focus is a big plus for HARMAN. Being an active part of the British photographic community is important to us, and to have Les there helping others allows us to give something back.” The first HARMAN PHOTO product to be launched will hit shelves just days before the Focus show, arriving in stores nationwide on February 5. The paper will be a Matt, Fibre-based paper, which incorporates real photo Baryta; an active coating layer utilised in traditional photographic products that enhances image clarity, colour brightness, tonal range and archival properties. HARMAN has also developed unique anti-curl technology that is incorporated into the manufacturing process to create a product that lies completely flat before, during and after printing. Les McLean himself has already begun testing the HARMAN PHOTO product, and he is very impressed with the results offered by the paper, commenting, “At last, we have an inkjet paper that feels like a traditional photographic paper. The prints I have created so far are as good as any I have ever made using inkjet media and I’m still in the early stages of testing. I’m looking forward to using and demonstrating the new products at Focus.” The HARMAN PHOTO products are suitable for both colour and monochrome photography, and more finishes and products will become available over the course of 2007 in a staggered launch programme. ![]() Free test packs of the Matt FB Mp product will be available at the HARMAN stand – number C2 hall 9 – over the course of the show. HARMAN also plans to use the Focus on Imaging exhibition to launch a new nationwide photography competition, with full entry details available on the stand.

Re: Harman launch Photo Inkjet paper
Hi,
New to the forum, the link to this article got me here. I have just competed my first day of testing this paper. Finally I have acheived the look that I had back in my chemical darkroom days, before reactions to the chemical in printing forced me to go digital. Thanks to Roy Harrington's QuuadToneRIP and my Epson 2200. I got acceptable results after the conversion, but they fell short of my chemical prints when I printed on air dried glossy paper. My intial test of Harmon's MATT FB Mp paper with its Baryta coating have now given me the look that no other paper could. The blacks are superb, but most amazing is the increase in sharpness when I printed the same image on a other matt papers. I was some what dubious of the sharpness claims in the press release, but I have no more doubts based on these first tests. I would to hear coments from others who may be using this Paper. David |
