New Canon L Lens Prototypes Revealed
Canon are developing two Professional L Lenses for SLR cameras. Both are primary lens and have the designation of EF 200mm f2LIS USM and EF 800mm f5.6L IS USM. At the moment they are still being developed. They would seem to incorporate special "Fluorite"optical materials. By the look of them they are quite large!!
 More info can be gleaned from Canon directly. |

Canon did a 800mm FD lens waaay back in 1981 - Canon 800mm FD
I also had a chance to briefly play with one of the legendary 200 f1.8's a couple of years ago. Have to agree with the comment here about how cumbersome it is. Still wouldn't say no to one though  |
