A powerful 52-times optical zoom lens brings new discoveries and creative inspirations to your digital photography

The XG-1 provides extra-wide zoom coverage, from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto ranges.

Within its compact, lightweight body, the XG-1 features a high-magnification 52-times optical zoom lens (extendible to 208-times in combination with the Intelligent Zoom function). Coupled with a high-performance, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor and high-grade smc PENTAX lens elements, the XG-1 captures dynamic, high-quality images, from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto ranges.

The 1cm Macro mode captures subjects in great detail.

The XG-1 lets you capture dramatic close-up images from just one centimeter away (at the wide-angle end).

3.0-inch LCD monitor and electronic viewfinder

The XG-1 features a high-resolution 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 460,000 dots for a large, clear view of the subject and menus. Its electronic viewfinder comes in handy when shooting in bright sunshine.

Simple operations and an array of shooting functions in a compact, stylish body.
The mode dial simplifies shooting mode selection.

In addition to the all-purpose Auto Picture mode for automatic selection of the most appropriate shooting mode, the XG-1 also provides user-selectable options such as the Aperture-priority AE and Shutter-priority AE modes.
13 Scene modes for optimum visual expression of specific subjects and scenes

Simply by choosing one of the Scene modes, the XG-1 optimizes all related settings, even when dealing with a confusing subject or situation such as the handheld shooting of night scenes, or photography of subjects such as active pets, fireworks or sports.

Full HD movie recording with simple push-button start

The XG-1 records Full HD-standard movie clips (1920×1080 pixels, 16:9 aspect ratio). It also provides the High-speed Movie mode for slow-motion playback, and an array of digital filters including Black & White and Sepia.

Other features

PENTAX-original SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism for effective compensation of camera shake
A wide selection of digital filters including Invert Color and Fisheye
Interval shooting mode convenient for fixed-point observation
Super-high-speed burst shooting mode with a maximum speed of approximately 60 images per second (in VGA format)
Continuous AF mode with Auto Tracking AF function to capture fast-moving subjects in sharp focus
Pet detection mode for automatic recognition of up to 10 pet faces
Compatibility with Eye-Fi wireless LAN SD memory cards
