Question So are Manfrotto the best tripods based on latest award ?

Press Release
For the first time a tripod has been awarded the prestigious recognition of TIPA, Europe’s number one association of specialist magazines, which has awarded the Best Accessory in Europe 2007 prize to the 190XPROB mode.

The innovative design of the 190XProB allows photographers to quickly switch the tripod's centre column from a vertical to a horizontal position.

This is important for macro and nature photographers, and previous versions required the centre column to be unscrewed prior to horizontal placement – a time consuming process. This new model allows the switch to be completed in seconds, and there's also a refined leglock system to further improve use in the field.

Whilst in no way wishing to take anything away from Manfrotto and what might be a very clever and ingenious system with the centre pole, I can use either end of my Benbo Trekker centre pole with no great difficulty!

Showoff!

But the Manfrotto is much more easy to carry, pack away and is quicker to set up, no?

When could you possibly need to flip from vertical to horizontal in seconds?

Whilst so far I'm not sure that seconds would really make that much odds (shots of flaaaaars), I quite often need to change vertical to horizontal - but have yet to go for bugs when seconds DO count!

And set up? The Benbo has just the ONE adjuster for the 3 legs and the centre column. And is light!
