Lens Description:
Sunex SuperFisheye lens is a new type of fisheye lens developed exclusively for digital SLR cameras using APS-C or DX format imagers. Unlike other fisheye lenses, Sunex SuperFisheye forms a complete circular image within the camera imager area. It captures a field of view 185° in a single shot. This high quality, yet simple-to-use lens features an optimized fixed aperture and focus to achieve the best image quality for panoramic photography. This lens is designed using the state of art optical design software taking advantage of newly available high-index glasses to achieve sharp image (download diffraction MTF curve ) from center to edge. BBAR coatings are applied to all air-glass interfaces to keep the overall flare/ghosting at a minimum.

Software Description:

Dewarper DSLR is a software plug-in for correcting or optimizing distortion taken with popular fisheye lenses including Sunex SuperFisheye lenses. This program is based on a proprietary algorithm developed by Sunex based on our expertise in real-world lens design and manufacturing. Unlike other distortion correction software, Dewarper DSLR does not assume that the lenses follow idealistic equidistant or equi-solid angle mapping. Best of all, it provides the freedom to optimize the amount of distortion in the output image to accomplish dramatic creative effects (see demo).

Key Features:

* Distortion cancellation: This compensates for the lens distortion and makes the output image rectilinear (example).
* Creative distortion: Let you adjust the amount of distortion in the final image to achieve dramatic creative effects (example).
* One-shot panorama: Transform a circular fisheye image to a panoramic image with up to 180° horizontal field of view (example).
* Spherical/cylindrical images: Transform a circular fisheye image to a spherical or cylindrical panorama for stitching (stitching software is not included) into a 360° virtual tour. (example).
* 360° panorama: Transforms the peripheral section of a circular fisheye image to a 360° panorama (example).

Re: Sunex super fish-eye lens with 185 degree view

Waiting for the non-cropped version of Sunex for my EOS 5D. Untill then, I'll stick to my Peleng. Do I need fisheye lens? Nooo! But it's so much fun processing 180° images. And with Peleng it's cheap, too.
