Re: alex
Very good! His eyes immediately grab you - which is traditionally exactly what you want - as the eyes have the clearest/strongest detail + colours.
His skintone is a bit on the pale side, and I'd like to see a bit more shadow (subtle of course) for a bit of modelling to his face, particularly on his left side (on our right) where the tone seems the flattest. His mouth bugs me a bit: The colours + toning seem patchy, and the way it looks as if he might have something in his mouth (maybe a sweet) is distracting, 'cos I keep trying to work out what it is! Hair could be a bit sharper. Composition - great! although I would like to see the complete neck-binding of his Tshirt, rather than it being clipped. Exposure - it leaves me wondering whether you were attempting a high key image that didn't quite reach high key, or high key didn't really suit the image, I can't make my mind up which. DoF + focus are great. I think it's very good, and maybe my nits are too picky ![]() Edit: On studying it some more, it's the black BG that doesn't go with the high key effect IMO. And looking at his hair against the black BG, I can see it's a cutout. So it's the BG that seems to be the weak link here.

![]() Thanks for your comments, this was actually just a snapshot taken about a year ago of which i have many but was just try to see if i could improve on, see if i could make it less like a snapshot, of which i'm quite happy still along way to go before i'm comfortable with portraits though.
