Angel of the North
Was on the road again this week up in Newcastle. Struggled to get all of the statue in the frame due to its size, so went for a different viewing angle.

Re: Angel of the North
Good effort Ian. Getting this close brings out the detail you don't see in longer shots. The composition has good angles and the cloud detail makes for a good background. your conversion is good too.
Get the Sigma 10-20 on the wish list and you will not regret it. |

Re: Angel of the North
This obviously has more emotional content for you guys than for me, but I like the composition quite a lot. It is a more form, light and shadow thing since I can't tell what it is and don't know it.
Well done and you finessed it nicely with a less than perfect situation (and lens)

Re: Angel of the North
Good shot here Ian, it's hard to get a different shot of one of the most photographed pieces of tat (whoops, I mean high-class sculoture <g>) in the North-east of England.
The mono treatment is very good and the composition is excellent. Only slight whinge is to advise you to be careful with your use of the Burn tool: it is a bit too obvious on the clouds on the left which makes it look more like a smudge than a natural darkening of the BG. If the white of the cloud is too bright all over, I suggest lowering the white point slightly using Curves tool as this stops the highlights over-powering the image, especially in a mono like this. Well done, Rob
