Re: Another seaside theme
![]() Its a wonderful image to start with but with just a little more saturation and some levels adjustment it really comes to life. ![]() |

Re: Another seaside theme
It is a very nice image and it may be my monitor but....... for my taste I would like the sky just a tad darker and with a little more contrast

Re: Another seaside theme
Cheers guys, for me it was one of those images that i'd like to have made a couple of different versions of ( i did do this as a matter of fact). Whilst i was working with it, i actually took virtually all of the saturation out. Mostly because i was quite liking the subtleness of the colour in it. Though looking at them side to side (or top to bottom on the site) i'm quite liking steves version, and i think that is as far as i would go with the sky, much more and you'll start to lose the highlights.
I did notice Steve removed the rope with the floats on, i quite liked that as part of the image, with it nicely mirroring the spit/beach defence thingy. Also i think it's slightly sharper than mine too and that's something i must remember to do, i never sharpen an image unless it is about to go for it's final usage and i always forget this site would count as final use. |

Re: Another seaside theme
My girlfriends just walked past and laughed her head off because she watched me take all the colour out and told me at the time i should leave it as it was.

Re: Another seaside theme
Quote:
The rope...as I have said many times on Pixalo, small pictures lose details and what looks like a bird to you on your full size version looks like a dot or a spot to the members here when we view it, its the same for the rope, in your small picture it looks like a pipe or something running under the water and due to the lack of detail I chose to remove it. If it is clear that its a rope in the full size shot and you like it as a lead in line then it should stay. Lastly (still connected to the rope and size) pictures lose definition when reduced to be displayed online. A small amount of sharpening as the last stage before upload can often make a great difference in how well the shot is received. I most cases you are not sharpening the image but recovering some of the detail that was lost by shrinking it to web sizes. Hope that helps ![]() |

Re: Another seaside theme
Well I am going to be different and say that I don't actually like the mono version. For me its just too dark and makes the shot look like it was taken at night
