Re: Arches National Park
I love the way you eye is drawn into the vista, the big bold shapes grab you first and then all the interesting little details hold your attention. I think this would make a great poster sized picture.
Exposure's good, to get that detail in the sky as well as the colours in the rocks is tricky. I like the composition and you've got a shot where the light adds some real interest and dimension. I think it could use a bit of USM, looks like an unsharpened RAW image. A gentle curve could give it a bit more oomph, although I like the slightly understated and more muted effect you've got here personally. cheers Dan

Re: Arches National Park
Your right Danpen, straight out of raw with a small curve adjustment. Thought about selective saturation but decided to wait on more experienced opinions

Re: Arches National Park
My first thought was same as Danpen's, this needs sharpening. RAW photos always need a touch of sharpening just to give that clarity that I am certain is there in this shot. I like the composition but I'd prefer it to have a touch of foregroundas this feels too tight. As the main subject, I feel we need just a little bit in front of the main rocks to lead the eye in. I think I would like to have the trees in the front to be whole, that would give enough to let the image breathe at the bottom.
I think the sats could be pushed a little. Be careful though that you don't push them too far or else the rocks will look unnatural. Just enough to give a bit of punch is all that is needed. Lovely shot and I am sure a little more on the PP will make it a picture to be proud of ![]() Cheers, Rob

Re: Arches National Park
Thanks Rob, I know what you mean about a little more lead in, and I agree. Just one more mental note for the next time.
Every time I post here, (which isn't often enough) I pick up something for the thought process. This forum is a real asset for the photographer |
