What do I think? Like that a lot. Great BW conversion. A Hitchcock feel about the whole thing. (Psycho?)

Re: B&W experiment

I like it very much Marcin Great range of tones, conversion, composition, the whole tootie. The only thing that bugs me is that the whole image has sharp detail except the sky, which looks like you smooshed over it (and the water in the bottom RH corner) with the blur tool. I think crop the sky down to the top of the centre tree. Or maybe not. I can't decide what I think on that score

Re: B&W experiment

I also like this Marcin It is a pleasing image and the conversion is generally good.

However for me the spoiler is the light sky between the trees and around the tree line. The reflections in the water don't appear to match the cloudy sky either, so I suspect the sky is manufactured - well manufactured - but just needs a little more attention to the details.

Re: B&W experiment

Loved it from the moment my page scrolled down

i agree about the sky looking manufactured and i would of liked to spoted that house a bit sooner and see it a bit whiter. I would also put a 1-2-3-5 border around it in black and white but i seem to do that to a lot of my stuff latey (just mentioned that in another post to)

Any chance you could clone a small sailing boat in the bottom left

Im so in to bw at the moment so yep i like it

Dave

Re: B&W experiment

Interesting bit of processing - always good to see something slightly different. Smacks a little of LucisArt (not my favourite filter!) resulting in contrasty detail which works quite well, for me.

As mentioned, it's rather let down by the sky which needs a corresponding contrast - bit of dodge and burn might work (I'd try it but you've not set 'Image-edit' to permit modifications)

Re: B&W experiment

Thank you for your comments . That photo was taken as B&W with my Fuji FinePix9500 B&W setting yestarday evening - it was already dark. Eee... the truth is I'm experimenting with HDR now so this photo is the result of putting 5 different exposured photos into one - thats the reason of blurred sky (clouds were moving too fast for me ). Because final result was really not interesting I've made few more modifications - including noice reduction, sharpening, and my final choice was midnight. There is really not much i could do with the sky exept clonning one from another photo. I'm going there today during the day and I hope sky will be more interesting.

Markulous I'll be glad to see your version of this photo - do not hesitate to show us your work on it.

Re: B&W experiment

Nice job. I only just recently got my head around converting color to black & white. I hadn't realised it was possible 2 control which colors become blacker & which 1s become whiter. Does that make sense lol?

Now i can get my blacks to be deep and rich, almost like black and white film
