Baby Orang Utan
The main reason for going to Chester Zoo was to meet up with CT and his lovely wife Jan (both of whom I hadn’t previously met), Cripple, and IanC. Matt and Marcel where also there and while I enjoy their company, recently its been a pleasure that has been regular.
My one aim photography wise was to capture at least one shot of the Orang Utans that I could be happy with. The shot below is full frame and with very minimal editing, I have processed the RAW file and then cloned out a small twig, I then ran the tiff file through Noiseware Professional to clean and hide the minimal noise but otherwise it’s untouched. The quality of this shot is down to Matt’s amazing Sigma 800mm lens and his equally impressive tripod mounting system which made grabbing this shot a relatively easy task. ![]() Canon 20D (No crop) Sigma 800mm prime lens F 5.6 1/640sec ISO 800 Hope you like?

Absolutely superb!
If I took a shot like that with an 800mm lens it would look like a Photoshop gaussian blur layer :icon_eek: |

Lovely shot. Looks like it could stand a bit more saturation but with wildlife stuff it's not that common I guess.

Top job Steve!! :icon_cool That lens mounting system of Matt's is fantastic, I've been looking at some prices and they're not cheap! :icon_eek:

Great shot of that little fella.
I would give it a little more saturation to bring out the orange fur. |

Indeed a corker as we would expect
![]() I agree about upping the saturation slightly to emphasise his natural colour. One more thing that is bugging me is the strong line down the left hand side (can't make out what it actually is), but it's quite strong. Strong enough to keep trying to yank my eyes away from the little feller ![]() |

Damn thats a good shot. If I was to be critical I'd say its not got my name on it
Oh and theres a very small bit of green plant or something in the bottom left that would probably be best cloned out ![]() |

How rather fab - lovely eyes in focus and the chewing on the stick is an added bonus.

Altered the colour temperature slightly from the RAW file and in addition cropped the picture to remove the slight distractions and blurred some of the background on the left hand side to give it more impact hopefully.
![]() Is that any better gents? |

^^Typical girl
^^Brilliant shot, Can't really critique as it's out of my league. However, I think I preferred the wider composition in the first version. If it had been me, I'd have kept the original crop and tried to clone the distractions. Having said that, it does look better fo the colour boost. |
