Re: Barn Owl

I don't think there's much wrong here actually Ray!
The owl is looking into the picture: good!
The sharpness is on the owl: Good!
There are no blown white feathers: Good (and hard!)

Most owl shots are head on due to their great eyes, which are lost a bit in a side view, but this one works just as well

Re: Barn Owl

This was the only owl which I didn't think was great to photograph. You did very well here
I have lots of photo's of this owl but don't think they are that great. You can hardly see his eyes on all of them.

Technically, I think you've nailed this one Ray

Your feeling that something is not right is, I think, due to the angle that you have caught the owl. It is unusual in not being full-face or at least partially from the front. This has resulted in an unfamiliar view that, in turn, makes the picture look 'not quite right'.

Re: Barn Owl

I think that is good Ray and the exposure looks spot on. It is much better than my attempts. In most of what I got I could not see the eye or the beak.

Re: Barn Owl

nice details, good composition - it's a good photo. could be a little bit brighter but it's still fine. and i know how easy it is to overexpose photo of this Owl because of it's white colour. you've done it well. (my photos taken some time ago were overexposed)

John - but for Pixalo why not just call me AQ. I wonder if it is possible to change your user name without losing all the post history etc. I realise now I should have chosen something shorter.
