Beast of Bodmin Moor?

My first post in critique, wanted to know what you thought of this.
My cat looking decidedly evil, a little bit of processing, not much. I know there is one blown out area. Other than that any thoughts?

Thanks,

Jack M

Re: Beast of Bodmin Moor?

Nice shot Jack! I think, though, that I might have left a little more room above the eyes. I don't think it needs much but a little would stop it looking so top-heavy. I know with animals you have to be quick and shots of them are often opportunistic but if you'd been a little lower and got slightly more eye contact, you would have had a corker of a shot!

Ace shot Jack, hard to believe it's a domestic moggy so you have achieved your aim. I'm happy with the eyes being on the top third as it seems to make it more menacing

Me too. I like the crop, the focus and the lighting. They combine to give the shot the mood you were looking for. Well done.

The browns and the eyes make this shot a keeper

Re: Beast of Bodmin Moor?

I too like the comp - unusual pose/angle and works well with the light. Maybe a touch too much contrast and I'd like to see a mere hint of detail around that right eye but neither a big deal! Nice one!

I find a piece of string around each leg does the trick.......... joke

Nice DOF and detail in the fur around the eye and nose.

Hehe, yeah, I know what you mean. She is always lying in the sun in the room with the computer, and if you catch her in the morning when the light is nice and golden like it was, and call her, she looks at you, gets bored, and fortunately she looked in the right direction this time, and stayed for a while, so I snapped it!

[but yes strings around the legs would also work.... ]

Thanks mark, yes I know what you mean, and did fiddle for a while, the only problem was if I did that, you lost some of the 'eeriness' on her left side, it became light. yes I am aware I could do it selectively, but I really could be bothered so I thought I'd leave it

Thanks to all who commented. Pleased to have such generous comments on my first critique post

Re: Beast of Bodmin Moor?

Great shot Jack. It actually looks slightly evil looking as it has one green eye and one blue eye (it's actually the reflections!) but it works fine in this shot.

Bet Garfield is a pussy cat compared to this one.... errrr..... oh well, you know what I mean

Re: Beast of Bodmin Moor?
