To Bee or not to Bee
Ok, here's the next one. This was a lucky shot, because I wasn't looking to shoot a bee ... I was shooting flowers, + this bee happened to be on the flower next to the one I was shooting, so when I spotted him I thought I'd have a go. Got him a split second before he flew off, wasn't sure I did get him 'til I checked the shot on the camera monitor.
I have another version of this, because my first instinct was to crop it at the top + LHS. But when I did, it seemed to take the impact out of the shot, so here is uncropped. Second question is whether the single blade of grass adds to the shot or is it distracting? I can't decide. I think it balances out the shot + that if I blurred it out, then the frame would look unbalanced. What do you think? Lastly, d'you think I should darken the BG, or does it suit the shot as it is? All honest C+C most welcome ![]()

Re: To Bee or not to Bee
cracking shot Charlotte........... as to the blade of grass..... to be honest i would maybe blur the tip just a tad but dont blur it out completely.............. the background to me is fine as it has a lovely graduation from the yellow to the green thru the tones.

Re: To Bee or not to Bee
Thanks Fiona
I think you've hit the nail on the head there, now you say it, I see that it is just the tip of the blade of grass that draws the eye, so maybe I'll just darken the tip so it blends in better with the BG + doesn't stick out like a sore thumb, cheers for that |

Re: To Bee or not to Bee
I agree about the tip of the blade of grass, but other than that, I'd leave it alone. Great shot

Re: To Bee or not to Bee
I guess that I agree with the tip of the grass issue.
Other than that, leave it alone, and either frame it or make 10 signed prints and sell it. skip |

Re: To Bee or not to Bee
Good work here Charlotte. My judgement is entirely based on what I felt without reading your initial thoughts.... the blade of grass didn't bother me one iota, nore did anything else quite honestly! I definitely wouldn't darken anything, I'd be far more inclined to simply not touch it and just enjoy it! Great shot.
Cheers, Rob |
