Bird of prey
Taken during a day out at Hatton Country Park. Birds are tethered, with a dodgy green netting behind them, so a bit of selective blurring of the background was used.

Re: Bird of prey
The more knowledgeable here will be able to give you a more in depth critique but I can only say that it is a cracking shot IMO

Re: Bird of prey
It is a great shot and your processing has already almost removed all of the netting from the background, in fact if you had not have already mentioned it I wouldn't have noticed.
It’s good that you have left some space in front of the bird and the focus on the eye is spot on. What amazes me most about this shot is that you have managed to get a pin sharp image at 185mm using on 1/60 sec shutter speed. Ignoring the human camera shake element (you may have used a mono pod or tripod) but I am surprised the bird did not move enough to introduce blur. Well done ![]() |

Re: Bird of prey
Thanks for the comments so far.
It was a hot and sunny day, which makes the birds quite lethargic. I didn't use a monopod or tripod, I was just ambling around with the kids in tow and took some pictures. I'd downloaded them from the camera and forgotten about them, I hadn't considered them worthy of extra work. |
