Blue Window
This shot taken in the small west Texas town of Roma, on a bluff above the Rio Grande river. Looking forward to your comments.

Re: Blue Window
I like the colours and the composition, and the exposure is spot-on
The top one is intrusive and the ones around the seat make the image very complex, which is contrary to the simplicity of the picture. |

Re: Blue Window
I'm going to half agree and half disagree with graham: I think the shadow under the chair adds some extra detail and interest in contrast to the plain, simple lines of the rest of the picture. However, I agree that the shadow along the top would, in an ideal world, work best if it was just above the line of the window 'frame'.
I do like the image though, it has a simplicity about it that works very nicely. Cheers, Rob |

Re: Blue Window
I like this Paul, shadows + all
+ the wall looks like it has texture detail that wants bringing out, i.e. bring the brightness down just a tad. |

Re: Blue Window
Had another go at it. Is this what you had in mind?

Re: Blue Window
Second one looks the better of the two as Charlotte says still a bit bright.

Re: Blue Window
This is a whole lot better Paul
Strangely, now the shadow at the top is gone, the shadows around the seat do not seem to matter so much. I see that you have toned them down, and maybe this has also contributed to the improvement. Top job. |

Re: Blue Window
Going against the grain, I MUCH prefer the original. The image has "lost it" for me, with the top shadow gone + the fab frame you did on the original one.

Re: Blue Window
Do you think one version would sell better than the other in stock?

Re: Blue Window
Well since you can't have frames for stock photo's, you couldn't submit the first one anyway (correct me if I'm wrong, someone). Could you post the original version but without the frame? And with brightness tuned down? I realise you seem to not want to do that, but could we just see it like that? (If I had the time to pimp it, I would, but my own are piling up ...) Then perhaps get some more reactions tomorrow.

Re: Blue Window
Here you go Charlotte. With the brightness dialed down a bit:

Re: Blue Window
I still like the idea of something along the top to balance and frame the image so what about this? Ignore changes in colour and stuff, that wasn't what I was trying to show, just the shadow line at top.

Re: Blue Window
That's a big improvement Paul
Re: the compo, I still feel, quite strongly, that the top shadow is vital to this image. |

Re: Blue Window
Hmmm, I see you agree about the top shadow Rob, but you prefer it not encroaching on the window surround, whereas I'm ok with that. Your pimp is better than no shadow at all, but it's not enough. To keep it above the window, the canvass could be extended up top (clone wall in) to allow for the same amount of shadow as the original?

Re: Blue Window
from my opinion i think without the top shadow being as big (or as wide) as the original , has much more of an effect ,its just enough of as shadow that it looks like a edging if you understand what i mean. However with the frame i think original is a tad to much or to heavy .Depending on what your intentions are and guidelines for stock , would depend on if i have a frame or not .Like composition its a photo that could be used for variety of statements or ads.
