Canary Wharf (Bank Hol Monday)

First use of el-cheapo Hoya polarizer (£2.49 eBay special) to make that deep blue sky & catch the reflected clouds. Also first use of RawShooter to reduce noise as I forgot to change the ISO setting from 1600....

p.s. can yer see the England flag?

And then a plane about to land on St Pauls

clicky for remainder

Some excellent shots there. The polarizer has really paid off - one of the few filters I would bother with.

*Thinks - must get one*

I have used mine to substitute as a ND filter for ye olde blur water effect and to assist in colour saturisation.

Couple of nice shots there. Hope you got a lot more though. Canary wharf is a photo rich enviroment.

Did you have any problems with security? I nearly got booted out as they get very funny about people taking shots up there.

Cheers

I have another shot without the plane

And aye "security":
A jobsworth said "Do you know this is private property?"
Me "Yes"
Him "You need a permit to photograph"
Me "Why didn't you stop those people over there taking photos? [penny drops] "I'm not shooting commercially" (thinks to self, if you saw my stuff, you'd know why)
Him "How can you prove to me that you're not?"
Me "You want me to prove a negative?? How?"
Him (confused) "err..."
Me "How can you prove to me that you're not about to steal my camera?"
etc etc etc

If you are going up again I can give you an email address of someone that will fax you a permit.
