Re: Candid

I think you have got the focus just about right, and the selective colour works well. I love the busy street scene EXCEPT close to the busker! BUT, the angle is not the best to show us what is happening, and there is a busy background that the subject is competing with. I know why you chose this angle -it is because the subject could not see you! However, a more direct angle would show us what is happening and would give a better background to show off the subject.

The wedge of bright sky pulls the eye and I think a crop to just below the horizontal dark canopy support would work better.

In this situation, a couple of bob in the hat and a request to take some photos usually works well. I know that this means that it is no longer a candid, but you can always pick another title!!

Re: Candid

I like it, but I do agree with Graham's pointers.

Re: Candid

I, too, agree with Dab, mostly.

It looks like there is some detail remaining in the sky, so maybe a good burn would help. I like the way the sky adds depth and helps lead the eye down the lane.

The busker had to be colorized to make her/him the subject. Otherwise the image would have lost a clear focus. As much as I don't like selective c, this works pretty well, but even then I don't get a clear idea of what the busker is doing.

Re: Candid

I really like this Fi. The selective colouring certainly works very well in this picture.

Re: Candid

I agree with Victoria here, I love the way you can see the street and people in it, but the only real point of focus is the woman, I think this works very well, and the colouring too!

Re: Candid

I like the selective colouring idea (im in to it just now!) but I think you have to get more face in the picture, rather than side on where you can't really see whats going on.

BUT....i know you probably used the 400D kit lens so you would have to get quite close to do it well!
