I hope this comes over in the constructive way it's meant as I really like the idea of the shot but I have to say it doesn't work for me.

The angle you've picked is great for the building but has given you an uneven amount of convergence on either side of the cathedral. It also makes the lamp barrel in at a fairly alarming angle. The burnout around the lamp keeps pulling the eye back away from the subject and is too distracting for me. Sorry, one more thing I noticed if you raised the frame just a little more you would have got the tip of the spire in too.

Like I say, I dont want to appear too negative and I reckon there is a shot there that would please you more.

Thanks for the reply, I have the same feelings as you! I have only just bought the camera and this was a 1st ever night shot attempt. The lamp was a sever pain in the rear, I couldn't get it out of the way from any angle.

Do you happen to own an airgun?

Shooting at night with available light is just great and can produce some stunning images. The way that digi cameras suffer with colour failiure on long exposures can also give you some really pleasing surprises too. 8)

You could possibly fix the convergence problem in photoshop if you have it?

i wide angle lens would have been better for this shot, you could try to get that light out the picture then, its a real shame its there as the shot would be excellent without it
