Re: Cattle Guard
Hey TX
Your exposure and focus are good. I kind of like the different parallel lines here. But in all honesty it doesn't have much interest for me. Again, the old mantra, to which I often do not adhere, "what was your purpose in taking the shot?" skip |

Re: Cattle Guard
Kinda agree with Skip, there's nothing technically wrong here but it just doesn't really interest me. Maybe getting closer to the cattle grid (guard) and possibly laying on the ground would give this a better perspective or maybe a macro shot of the post box, there's plenty there and if it was me i would experiment with different view points and angles, some of which might work some might not.

Re: Cattle Guard
How about dropping the mailbox open and then swinging round to the front a bit more so that the box becomes the focal point and the grid gives interest. I think there is more of a picture in there somewhere but without being there and seeing what is around it I can't really say.
As Skip has rightly alluded to, there are different ways to take pictures. One way is to take a picture and then look afterwards to see if it 'says anything'. A better way it to decide what you want the picture to say and then take the picture that says that. You have got the technical side right already so you're well on your way. Get magazines and books and look at composition because that is 90% of photography. I am sure you'll soon be seeing pictures more readily. Can you go back to this spot and take more shots? If so, take a few moving around and keeping that box away from the edge so that it can be the centre of attention (not in the centre of the image though!) and then look at them side by side on your monitor and see what you think. Good on you for having a go. let's see some more ![]() Cheers, Rob
