Re: Cemetary

I think what attracts me to the image are the cool tones. Very relaxing in a funereal way.

Perhaps you should clone the sign in the lower left, though.

Fi, I was expecting to see a mono of a dark and mysterious cemetery. Ya fooled me.

Good pic.....as always.

Re: Cemetary

I like it better with that tree branch cropped out from the right. It kept grabbing my attention.

I took the liberty..

Re: Cemetary

yep i did think about that.. let me explain why i left it........ the original has trees both sides. BUT the statue was exactly central.. so i cropped it to take it just a tad off the central line, the prob with yours is that it has brought it back central again. although i do agree it looks better without the branch.

many thanx

Re: Cemetary

It is really weird. In the crop of the tree, it feels to me like something is missing, it just doesn't have the impact of the original. That one still does it for me.

And usually, we don't like stuff at the edges like that. Go figure. Anyone else feel the same way or am I just weirder than I think?

Re: Cemetary

Putting the structure at the center did cross my mind as maybe ruining it. Maybe clone it out?

I don't like the tree there, and I'm not all that happy with the structure centered either with it cropped... But I do like the overall shot if that makes any sense.

Re: Cemetary

I guess this bugged me. I made another crop for you to look at.

I zoomed in on the large monument/statue/structure, took out some sky, some at the left right and bottom, leaving it off-center.

I don't think a lot of lost by zooming in like I did. I wouldn't like doing this if it was a landscape oriented shot.

I promise I'm done now. Back to my regularly scheduled lurking..

regards,
Loyd Craft

Re: Cemetary

I think we need somewhere between the light of Graham's and the original which was a bit dark. I have had a little play, see what you think. Unfortunately cropping and resizing has made it a bit grainier than the original. But it will give you an idea of what I was aimning for. Imagine like this but sharper

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Cemetary

I lke duotones of cemetery shots.. this was black and a pantone yellow and the channel curves played with a bit to get things how I liked it..

I saved the duotone curve I used in this file if you might want to apply it to the original full sized image:
