Re: Cheryl
I think as long as there is not much fog at Bristol, it would be fine. You can land a plane easily without seeing anything such is the sophistication of instruments these days but pilots still prefer to take off by sight.
Anyway, there are 5 days between now and then so am sure the fog will be clearing.... probably giving way to sleet, snow, ice, hail.... all the things that I'd perfer to avoid <g> But hey, can hardly expect sunbathing whether in December. Just as long as the days are not miserable grey drizzly days.... the worst type of lighting for good photos. Cheers, Rob

Re: Cheryl
lum = chimney
stoor = smoke/ dust Edinburgh got the name Auld =Old .......... Reekie =Smokey. a few hundred years ago because of the constant haze from all the chimneys from the original tenements ( the first high rises ) which in some parts reached 11 storeys! Fi Old scottish saying.......Lang May yer Lum Reek which basically means good luck and long life.... it literally translates into Long may your chimney smoke! |

Re: Cheryl
Have to say though that the Edinburgh authorities have done a fantastic job of cleaning many of the old buildings to restore them to their former glories. Still a way to go but they'll get there and Edinburgh can truly be said to be getting more beautiful day by day!
Cheers, Rob |

Re: Cheryl
I was in Edinburgh some years ago for Festival and Fringe, and had a wonderful time. Scotland is such an intriguing place with so much history (and photo ops) that I would love to return.
Have to say, though, that I tried haggis and it was not one of my favs ![]() skip And now this is seriously off subject, eh? |
