Re: church rehash

I can't make up my mind about this, Fi.

On one hand it certainly brings out the window. On the other hand, at least on my screen, you have lost a lot of the richness of the midground wood that was in the original.

And the duo tone portion looks flat, no lighter shades. I would really like to see wider tonal range there.

Re: church rehash

I like your effort there Fi but I think it lacks contrast. I don't think it needs to be super punchy as that would take away from its tone but I think it just needs a bit of a lift. I have had a play and done four things:

~ Lifted the lighting a touch using a shallow S curve.
~ Copied window to new layer, adjusted with curves then used 'Overlay' blending mode at 70%
~ Lifted the lighting of the scouts flag on left
~ Lifted lighting on the Union Jack on the right.

I felt the flags needed lifting along with the window as otherwise it felt unbalanced.

Hope you like it. :o)

Cheers,
Rob

Re: church rehash

I really need to get to grips with PS, amazing what a few touches and can do. I think this is a great shot anyway, but with the added light on the flags it really lifts it!
