Re: Coastal Maine
Like the foreground rocks and the cool blue tones, but your horizon needs adjusting to straighten it. Also the dots on the sea may be gulls or buoys, but I'd remove them to leave the sea clear. Perhaps a bit of adjustment of the saturation to bring up the colour a bit more, but it's a good shot to work on.

Re: Coastal Maine
I agree, the horizon did need some straightening. The dots are buoys but you are right they don't really add anything. This is actually an HDR from two images. I'm always a bit hesitant to do them because they generally tend to look so overcooked and fairytale-like. Perhaps I was a bit too cautious with the settings.
I don't mind at all people tinkering with my images. I really like the look of the above but it is just a bit too much for what I was going for with this one. I wanted it to be very believable and natural. I really appreciate feedback. Thank you so much. |

Re: Coastal Maine
Here's my go :
![]() Straightened a tiny bit. Cropped. Adjusted colour balance: yellow-blue slider toward yellow (to get rid of the blue tinge); magenta-green slider toward magenta. Very minor levels adjustment, I just brought in the highlight slider very minutely, just to boost the highlights a bit + give it some depth. Sharpened via USM (50% radius=0.5) (knowing I would lose some sharpness when I saved it) and again selectively with a brush + sharpening tool over the BG rocks/water/horizon to add depth. Colours are still a bit wonky, but I think the warmer tones compliment the image, which I like BTW :)

![]() Always interesting to see how others see images but straightened horizon and removed buoys and I do prefer your comp and treatment - I guess a stronger object in the FG or a lead-in might've been good but no big deal. I'm not overly keen on the milky sea but appreciate that's personal taste (it's the resulting lack of detail that I'm not keen on)
