I think for selective colour to work you need to pick something out that really shouts at you, the browns dont really do that, and also i think youve picked out too many things to selective colour
Personally I like the technique maybe picking out the whole trailier and trunks rather than bits Do you have the colour original for reference ? |

Re: colour ' B&W
I quite like selective colour, but for me it has to either add a WOW factor, or draw the eye to it as the focal point of the image, and this one does neither.
I think the image itself is perhaps too busy for this treatment, unless you did the truck and both trunks. This would certainly grab the eye, even if the effect you put onto it is subtle. |

Re: colour ' B&W
![]() thanks Summer, here is the photo in full colour. Taking your veiws on this maybe i should have played with the blues on the doors to create selective colour ![]() I wanted to show the rust on the wheels though this is why i selected the brown feel to the photo

Re: colour ' B&W
I actually quite like it. The muted tones of the trunks against the grey background give it an "olde worlde" feel. Only critisism, I wouldn't have coloured the wall infront of the cottage.

Re: colour ' B&W
I too, am a fan of selective color when used in moderation. I like the way that you added back color in a subtle way and not full on. The others are correct that you should pick a single element that you want the viewer to focus on for the color and limit it to just that.
Selective color can be a way to salvage a "busy" image - when all the distracting bits are rendered the same monotone, they tend to almost "disappear" into the background. |
