Colours of Spring
Comments welcomed on this one. This was taken as the flower was just opening. I took the shot from above looking down but not sure if it looks a little lost, floating above the foliage?

Re: Colours of Spring
Ok HHRC, you get my 3000th Pixalo posting, hope it feels worth it
![]() Lovely strong colours in this image and I don't think it feels lost though I do think you could lift the shadow areas slightly. Obviously part of the petals are black so that is fine but the central cup is all the darker because of that. Maybe a reflector or even a little fill-in flash would be useful to push some light into that area and even the tones out a bit more. Definitely a strong flower image that impacts instantly so well done. Cheers, Rob

Re: Colours of Spring
I find the center of the flower just a little distracting, though it is over all a power color shot,, and ok,, the center seems to have a face looking out at you. Kinda like a blow fish, don't laugh I see it. Rob, shouldn't you have one foot on the table are something like that?

Re: Colours of Spring
I like flowers with a touch of fill flash to soften the shadows and lighten the center. It makes a way better shot.
I have no problem with the angle at which it was taken, and it doesn't look lost. skip |

Re: Colours of Spring
The original shot actually had the middle almost blacked out, i adjusted the curves in PS to give it a bit more light. Looking at the two, i was never sure which i preferred.
Thanks for the feedback |

Re: Colours of Spring
Lovely shot. The colours are strong and the image is very crisp where it needs to be.

Go with the black center.
