well here's my first pic in the critique section.....taken about 2 years ago...its been one of my favorite pictures i've taken....it was kinda of a spur of the moment thing and im lucky i caught it..... let me know what you think

Interesting image, but I don't understand the star. What is it? Why is it there, seemingly hanging in midair?

For me, it totally destroys what could be a very moody neat image. Who are these guys? It looks like they are in a basement. What are they doing? Musicians? It sort of looks like a brass instrument next the the ##@$^%^&%# star

. Is this a gig in a lowdown, lowprice club at 3am in the morning?

Or am I reading this totally wrong. 2 guys hanging out in the basement. "What are we gong to do tonight, Marty?"

I think the enigma and mystery of the image is the hook.

Technically, maybe there is too much shadow on the left side, And of course, the star. But it is a haunting image.

Please, tell us your thoughts about it, Dehno.

Me and my friends fixed up my buddies basement to just hang out in, we'd sit down there and play and listen to music and just chill. Really cool inviroment for music if you can tell. i happened to have my camera and snapped the picture at this time.
My favorite part about it is how the star and neon contradict eachother and the shadow my buddy forms, makes it mysterious in a way

I dont like the star either , it just keeps pulling you view towards it..you cant help but stare at the star and no pay attention to anything else ..sorry

The star is ok, it's not it's presence which is the problem it is it's luminosity.
I think with some creative shopping it could be made to work well.

I think the whole picture would be too dark without the star, it adds luminance to a very dark scene. Yes, it does rather draw the eye away at first but then you wonder round. I see it as a sort of subliminal connection in that it looks like a couple of guys, down in the basement perhaps having a jam session and dreaming of being rock stars - hence the connection being made.

It's different, fair game to you.

Well, one could ps the star so that is doesn't blind the eye and the luminence would not change.

I'm unsure about the star, too.

It would be interesting to see a couple of images with the star toned down and removed altogether. That would make the assessment easier.

Well, thanks a flippin' bunch Dab, you just knew I couldn't resist a challenge like that didn't you! What a job getting that star out and still making it look realistic! But, just for you (ok, it is Christmas!) here is one with a detuned star and one without a star altogether but please remember it is now effectively an artist's impression!

I tried to pimp and failed abysmally. So I applaud your efforts.

That being said, I shall pick my fav.

I like #2. Even though the star is muted, it still seems like it doesn't belong.

i duno....i think it doesnt look as mysterious and dramatic without it....good job on the ps tho...looks good
