Re: critique pls

For me I would have liked to see the person as more of a silhouette. I did try in PS but Colour isn't my forte & I was struggling to get a silhouette to look correct against the blue of the sea & sky. So it was easier for me to lose all the colour

By no means a perfect conversion, but gave me less to battle with colours clashing etc & remember this is just a personal taste, so means nothing in the real world

Re: critique pls

For a snatched opportunist shot you've done really well.

I liked Dave's mono, but I would, wouldn't I?

Re: critique pls

After Daves mono edit of this shot, I thought I would give it a go in colour (this is my first attempt at editing another members photo).

I selected the silhouette and increased the contrast then reduced the brightness.
I then inverted the selection and increased the shadows in the background.
Finaly I croped closer in.

Re: critique pls

Sussesd what was bugging me with this shot. It was the figure being too central. It would bring more balance to the shot if it was on a 1/3 line. So out with the clone tool (not the best of clones, but gives the impressions of what I am saying) to see if works, & to me it does :-

Re: critique pls

Ooh if thats the case you can make 2 shots out of one. I cropped some of the left of your shot to get the balance right, so if you take the full shot I reckon you make a decent landscape also
