Crossraguel
I took a similar shot about a year or so ago....... there was something not right about it so went back last year for another go.......... I cant quite get the entire abbey in the shot, ( i has in a very precarious position just to get this...... and i left the people (my son and parnter having a sword fight) to give a sense of scale....... should i take them out. what more do i need to do... or do i need to go back again and reshoot a third time?

Re: Crossraguel
Just googled for Crossraguel and your shot is better than the one on the website
. If its any consolation they haven't managed to get anymore of the abbey in their shot either. Not sure about the figures in the centre, they do add a sense of scale, but there is enough doorways and windows to do this anyway. The problem we all face when taking a lanscape rears its head here I think, a very early start or late finish is required to get the best out of the light. Often impossible I know. As i said on your other post, looks like a great place to take that camera ![]() |

Re: Crossraguel
Fiona, you really must start visiting a few places I CAN PRONOUNCE! <g>
Sorry, apart from that this is a good picture. Teeniest whinge: the crop at top is just a tiny bit too tight. Would like a little space between top of the bell tower and whatever it is on the top of it. Other than that, good shot with nice depth ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: Crossraguel
thanx rob thought about that but it was at the expenxe of losing even more of the abbey at the bottom so i was kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Re: Crossraguel
Yup, fair enough fi. It's a minor issue anyway, the overall shot is excellent

Re: Crossraguel
um....Fi....have you thought about mono?
I think that I would leave the people in. It does give more of a sense of scale. skip |

Re: Crossraguel
I think that I like the mono better, but the shadows seem a bit more prominent in it, and so, perhaps could be lightened just a tad.
(Notice how blooming nice I am???) ![]() skip |

Re: Crossraguel
The mono has enhanced the architecture but, to my eye has caused sky problems.
So with that borne in mind, I prefer the colour version or color. |

Re: Crossraguel
I have to say the adjustment on my computer did not lose the detail in the sky anything like as much as it is showing on here, sorry about that. But the sky is a minor part of the picture to my mind so suffice to say, it IS thee on the original
![]() Yup Skip, I did think about lightening the shadows slightly but wanted to keep it like the original first. I have had a little go at bringing up the shadows slightly without losing the effect that they give which I think adds to the depth of the picture. See what you think. Cheers, Rob ![]()
