Yup, there is even room for text on the left.

From my point of view, the 4th and 5th fingers would be better is shown completely...it looks a bit funny like this. Also I think the shadow should be lightened a bit to emphasize the hand.

Re: Crushing the temptation...

I'm with Skip, I'd prefer to see a bit more of the fingers so that they look like they are crushing the packet: in this they look like they are holding a crushed packet if you see what I mean.

Gets the message across very well and if posters like that can persuade even a few to give their health priority and give up the cancer sticks, then I say put them up everywhere!

Good work,
Rob

Re: Crushing the temptation...

Yep, billboard material for sure. If you had the opportunity to do it again, would you hold the hand further away from the backdrop to eliminate the shadow, or were you trying to create a shadow on purpose? IMHO less shadow would put more emphasis on the hand and strengthen the message.

Re: Crushing the temptation...

Nice shot, Tim. Agree with the comments re lightening the shadows.

The only other thing that springs to mind for me is that if you were seriously looking to do an image with the potential for a billboard, I'd make sure that although you could see that it was a cigarette pack being crushed, I would avoid showing anything identifying the brand.

Re: Crushing the temptation...

Re: Crushing the temptation...

Noooooooooo! Having given up Marlboro (tho' not them nasty lights!) a year ago, gimme, gimme!

And I'd de-emphasise (lighten) the hand and boost the packet more - the message is about the packet is my thinking, but do like it as is!

Oh, and just in case anyone thinks I might go wobbly, I've carried a 200 pack of Marlboro in the car since before I quit - so I can light up any time I choose (but don't choose!)

Re: Crushing the temptation...

Thanks for the points.

The photo is not intended for billboard use, I made it for myself, to help motivate myself not to pick up another cigarette, so there shouldn't be issues with marlboro.

As for the shadow, well personally I like it, I actually made it stronger in post. Adds a gritty feel I think, makes it more real, more desperate.

Thanks for the comments and opinions...

Re: Crushing the temptation...

I really like this, great interpretation!

I also like the dark shadow, it gives the shot a grim and gritty feeling that I suit's it well.

Very nice shot

That site requires registration and stuff before you can view anything so it might be better to repost it on this site. I didn't get to see it following that link.

cheers,
