Crystals Of Despair
I took this from my window with a canon 100mm macro lens.

Hi Don, welcome to Pixalo.
I like the light blue colour of the background and of course the intricate detail in the ice. I think the angle it runs at is too shallow and a more pleasing composition would have it either much more corner to corner or dead straight down the middle. I think the latter perhaps. There also appears to be sensor dust dotted around the pic, although this might not be the case. A square format with the ice running right down the middle rather than at a gentle angle would be an improvement, but it certainly isn't the norm and for that I commend you.

I love the detail and colours. The darker blobs on the background distract a little bit but overall I think it's really nice.

I prefer this composition to the first but might try a more corner to corner crop. I'd consider trying to clone off the "frond" going out of the frame as that seems to drag the eye away.
Always a nice subject, a good job with the tricky exposure and nice and sharp. |
