Looking at the other thread is cheating

And the only way to become in touch with reality is to detach yourself from it (hah, what a load of *******....)

Re: Curves

I like this one Jack, Only thing I would change is the Shallow DOF, I also like the the texture it has in the small area we can see.

Nicely encoded, though I'm not sure I'm visually literate enough to decode it correctly.

Re: Curves

It was obviously a guitar, that much stuck out straight away when i looked at it, maybe because I am a guitarist. Does it work? It will for some buit not for me.

If I was to be brutally honest (and I know you'd want me to!), it looks like a photographer who has just realised how depth of field works and decided to try it out but in a meaningless way because there is no obvious or even subtle reason for the one bit in the middle to be sharp and the rest blurred.

As you definitely don't come into that category, I am going to say this is a miss rather than a hit. BUT...

Here's your homework Jack: take the photo again angling the camera so that the line of focus pretty much runs up the edge/corner of the guitar but then blurs out along the face and side of the body. THEN you might find a shot that really does work..... no guarantees though

Cheers,
Rob

Good comments Rob, I agree with you, and to be honest I was just messing around out of boredom, I might try it out when I have some more time. I just liked it because of the way the S curve fans out where the DOF becomes really shallow, but I can see why there's not much interest.

Sometimes I wish I was bored. But that hasn't happened for a long time now

Abstract is not my scene. I can't see much in this one.
