Danielle - first portrait
I've never done this before. Yesterday evening my wife flew in and said "quick bring your camera". I followed and next door's daughter was ready to go to the school prom and would I take photos. I had my flash-gun set to ETTL, camera on Auto and took about fifteen shots. I had no choice in the background since taxi was waiting but other than that I would appreciate feedback from those who are more comfortable with portraits, especially indoor. TIA.

Re: Danielle - first portrait
i like it, pity she was not looking, In my opinion it needs a little more colour and a bit more pop, she looks very beautiful and you done well with it been a rushed job. David

Re: Danielle - first portrait
Stepheno, pop a note through the door next door and tell your neighbour to pick a time for a photo shoot with her in her prom outfit. She'll get some great photos and so will you.... winners all round!
Lovely pic here showing the potential for much more in a more relaxed and unrushed situation. Cheers, Rob |

Re: Danielle - first portrait
What Rob said, but I would bet that mum will have to spend to redo the hair. IMO, the hair makes the shot.
Also, I rather like the muted browns here. It creates a certain softness that befits Danielle well. And I really like the bg. Well chosen ![]() It is no big deal that she is not looking at the camera, but what messes this image up terribly is that her eyes are closed. Ah well, ya do the best you can, and you did really well here. skip |

Re: Danielle - first portrait
Thanks for all your feedback guys
![]() I thought that too but I was stuck with the bg and her outfit being the same colours. Quote:

I might seriously consider doing it again when time permitting I can think about the points you have all made. Thanks. |

Re: Danielle - first portrait
Considering the restraints, very well done. Having more time will give you a before and after trial that will test your artistic abilities rather than photographic excellence. I'd like to see the two compared.
