Re: Day Lilly
LOL, Steve! OK!
![]() Comp works well but the colours are a touch too saturated. Problem is with flash is that it leaves a shadow - OK for a pap of Z lister celeb but not great in a still life So, a reshoot please using natural daylight or a combo of lights/natural daylight to keep the shadows down - and less saturation in the post-process |

Re: Day Lilly
LOL Steve
![]() Actually I like this a lot. Have to admit I'm in two minds, because : (a) As an artistic image I think it's great - the colours, detail, exposure, composition, right down to the splashes of BG leaves which, although barely visible, add to the pic. Good work (b) As a record shot, Mark is quite right about the resulting harsh effect that the flash has had, particularly the very dark BG, which is typical of using flash in macro work. For a more natural macro flower image, daylight is indeed the best light to use, and early or late in the day (midday light is quite harsh), with use of reflectors as necessary. So yes, it's a lovely image, although not a very natural looking one, still a pleasing one ![]() PS I smiled at the title "Day Lily", when it looks like night time

Re: Day Lilly
Thanks for the replies! I agree, the flash blew out the red in the pistols. I tried to bring saturation down but it took to much color out.
I shot this late in the day and used the flash. I knew there were some short comings with this so I did this to it too! Picasa Web Albums - steve - flower060507 1 |
