1st post in a while, I've been trying different techniques in photoshop and wanted some critique on the following image. Does it work or is the result too washed out? Thanks as always for your comments.

I like kids pictures where they look pink and healthy, cuddly and cute.

Hi Mike, the shot would probably would work a lot better if the young lad had a different top.The white stripes merge with the background too much and spoil it for me. You could tone down the background a little just to show the edges of the subject ?.Failing that you coulddo an Adobe layer of the lads top and change it to eliminate the white stripes.

Hi Mike,

I like this but also agree that the white stripes just blend into the BG a touch too much so I did a very subtle pimp to see if this helps. Feel free to disregard it, just explored the options really.

I made a new empty layer and cloned a line where the edges of the white stripes would be, using the green of the other stripes as my source points so that it blended in reasonably well. The overall effect was a bit strong so I reduced the opacity of the clone layer down to 50% to keep it more subtle.

I also used a 4% soft brush to burn very gently the left side (as we look) edge of the neck and cheek to just let the edge be noticeable but with VERY little actual tonal difference.

See what you think anyway. Love the actual photo, especially those strong sharp eyes :o)

Bit blown out in both but a tadge less will probably sort it out.
