Drink Up!
This was taken on a boiler of a day.... I could have drunk the amount Nelly here was drinking!
Canon 20D with 100-400mm IS L. ![]() Edit comment: Fair enough Loly, have removed the lightspot (not actually a highlight, it was a sandhole but guess it could distract. Grass also removed. Last edited by Rob Barron; 16-12-2006 at 00:21. |

Re: Drink Up!
I like it too, it's a nicely framed/cropped image. Just can't make my mind up whether i like the slight bit of movement in his/her trunk or not.

Re: Drink Up!
O.k, sorry i thought this was in the sharing section, i didn't realise it was a crit piece. Well in that case, i still like the image, the framing is great, maybe a little heavy on the left of image, but that can't be helped due to the ear. I like the way the trunk keeps you caught on the elephant, but at the same time gives some detail to follow around the image.
As regards the movement in the trunk, i feel it would have been better to have frozen it, as everything else is so still and sharp you just expect that to be too (or at least i do). Being picky, there are 2 distractions that don't help the image......There is a blade of grass just near to where the trunk meets the mouth, and just to the right of the trunk there is a strong highlight (just above the red mud bank). I would remove/dull down both of these. |
