Evening silhouette.
Taken from a lay-by on the A19. My own critique is the slight overexposure of the sun and not getting the whole tree in - but I had to avoid a telegraph pole and a road sign. Comments welcome please.

however, it works for me , possibly crop it lower in the top of the image, it looks a little lost up there, but i like the colours and composition, always worth pulling over to take these pix MyPix |

Great stuff, just a pity you didnt get the whole tree in the shot, but your aware of that, otherwise its really good, i agree with a slight crop at the top.

on a different matter,
if the telegraph pole and road sign were in the way, i take it you didnt get out the car ? if you did , why didnt you move to a position that these items were not in the way, just curious MyPix |

Lovely shot. What a great sky! I'd like to have seen just a tad more foreground and the slight flare from the sun isn't adding much to the shot, I might be inclined to clone it out to give a clean silhouette on the tree trunk?

All comments much appreciated.
MyPix - I could have walked along the lay-by to avoid the pole and sign but I then would have had the full sun creating all sorts of glare. I particularly wanted the sun behind the tree trunk. Matty/Barrymoir - I agree about the top crop. CT - I'll try cloning the flare, I was trying to avoid it in the shot. regards |

Here's a cropped version and I've cloned out some glare from the trunk. Trouble is...I now feel the bottom doesn't look right. ![]() regards |

Great shot - crop is certainly an improvement but for me I don't think you needed to bother with the flare such as it was ? The loss of the left side does not detract so much either, in fact in some respects I think it adds - it keeps the tree off centre and is balanced by the space to the right ... sort of !

Lovely colours, the crop at the top of the frame was probably the right thing to do but I did like the blue of the sky. Don't know if this is right but being clipped at the left leads the eye out of the frame....I think. But having the distant trees along the bottom of the frame was well done, making the subject tree seem like a giant. I have to be honest....I don't really mind flare in a shot, it's to be expected sometimes and can add a little something I think.
