experiment
I was experimenting with different senses of movement, and somehow came up with this image in amongst a batch. For a whle this was left in the "to ditch" folder. Until i pulled it out again by mistake and saw something ( not sure what) in it that was exactlywhat i was looking for, so with some selective colouring i had the image i wanted which was one that showed movement, isolation, and was thought provoking. Just goes to show u should never throw any image away straight off!
So what do you think does it work or not? ![]() |

Re: experiment
It's a weird one Fiona, as normally this style of shot has the static items in focus & the items that move blurred. It defintely works in dragging the eye to the focus point, & gives a kind of dream like feel to the shot. I think it works in it's own way

Re: experiment
yep Dave, I know what you mean which is the reason it went into the "to ditch" pile, but as the whole point of taking the shots was to look at DIFFERENT ways of showing movement i thought that it could work...... It has had loads of different opinions frmo rubbish to great, but i think its one of these phtoographs that has to appeal to viewer and doesnt sit in one of those grey areas! lol

Re: experiment
I would be proud if I had taken and edited this shot
The only thing I would change would be the blokes hair, it's a bit to white for my liking. Time for a visit to the barbers for some just for men maybie? ![]() |

Re: experiment
Certainly an interesting and unusual shot - and gets my vote.
Was thinking just B/W but I'm guessing his image isn't large enough to carry that off? |

Re: experiment
he kinda blends in too much with the background when its all in B/W which is why i decieded on the selective colouring instread.

Re: experiment
I think this shot definately works and has load of impact due to it be a reversal of the 'normal' movement shots. Your selective colouring (which seems to being used here at Pixalo a lot just recently) has made the focal point stand out.
Its funny how shots like this can slip through the net when we are viewing our photos aftera shoot. I always try to leave viewing my images until at least a few days after a shoot so that I see the shots with fresh eyes instead of with a vivid memory of the scene. I am curious how you actually took this shot to get the subject almost totally in focus while giving the background the movement blur? |

Re: experiment
I was actually hanging out of a train in the display following the subject who was moving quite slowly. i was trying to decide where was the best place to take him when he suddenly strode out and i panned the camera on him and took the image. like i said at first glance everything looked blurred, but when i had a better look and used the selective colouring it was WOW it does work!
