Re: Fairground Attraction

I like this Fi, i think it works well. I wonder whether it would be better with the couple of stalls on the left to be in colour as well (It might work, might not but be interesting to see).

Re: Fairground Attraction

Doesn't do a lot for me - you've got the three main subjects all on top of each other and think the selective colouring gets a bit lost. Looking at the shot, I wonder how it would look taken from the right, so you have stalls -> merry go round -> wheel -> spire; a progression

Re: Fairground Attraction

I'm not a fan of selective colour but I like the monochrome treatment, theres something really sinister about that dark church/cathedral? towering above the fair playground wheel.Well spotted, I can imagine this in a winterland nightmare.

Re: Fairground Attraction

My first impression here, Fi, was this looks like a very cold and blustery day to be walking around a fair. Upon further inspection, the church spire directly behind the wheel is sort of the same issue as a pole directly behind someone's head - so it looks like it is sticking out of their head.
Any one of the subjects in this shot could make a good picture on their own. In your mind, was the carousel your main subject? Did you feel you had to color it to make it more evident? Was it getting lost in the scene?

Re: Fairground Attraction

Paul, I know this should be Fi replying but I am doing so to save your life so thank me ok?

The 'spire' in the background is NOT a church and NOT a cathedral. It is called the Scott Monument in Princes St in Edinburgh and the Scots all think it is really famous and stuff so next time you write, just pretend you knew that ok? Trust me, it will be worth it for some peace and quiet

Now PLEASE, don't tell her I told you ok? <g>

Cheers,
Rob
