Re: first hdr
This is a bright, colorful image (obviously), and I do like it in spite of the busyness, which is usually a distraction. In this frame of reference, though, I think it works well.
I would suggest that you crop the clock out. Maybe keep the dragon, maybe not. The other thing is that I am not sure where your focus is. The hand is a bit soft, but the background isn't entirely sharp either, but that may be compression artifact. This is the kind of shot that needs 3 tries. One with an open aperture focusing on the fg, another on the bg, and a third with a tighter aperture keeping everything in focus. Then you could compare and see which works best for you. Hope this helps. skip Last edited by skipper954 : 26-01-2007 at 17:27. Reason: For Rob so that he dont tink I rite bad. |

Re: first hdr
I thought HDR was this technique of combining a series of different exposures. Right? Well that technique is most suited to scenes with very large contrast. Was this such a scene? I can't really tell. If we're talking about the same technique I'd try it in way more extreme contrasty scenes. The results are quite amazing.

Re: first hdr
Hey Mala
I didn't even pick up on the hdr. You are correct in your interpretation of hdr. If this was an excercise in hdr, then auto has to decribe what he did and perhaps post the originals. If he did do and hdr merge, it was masterful!!!! skip |

Re: first hdr
I made very few HDR images. I'll post one now... It's really amazing how you can span such a super range of contrast and still get amazing detail in dark and light areas. I did end up with really "delicate" images, because the contrast is spread out over such a broad range. In the end I made the image a lot more contrasty... still way more detailed than I could get with a single exposure.

Re: first hdr

Re: first hdr
OK, this is another image of the same window. Curtains opened this time. Well, it's hard to see... but with a normal single exposure I could only get the midtones ok, with the highligts in the window blown out and lots of black an noisy shadows under the window.
But this image is now very dull. Yes, you can see a lot of detail but it lacks power I think. Mala ![]() Last edited by Mala : 27-01-2007 at 00:30. |

Re: first hdr
O those, well those I do not have on my computer anymore. So I can't show them now. But they are just a series of exposures one stop apart in exposure. Photoshop then does the merging.

Re: first hdr
Well, nonetheless, good job.
It is really exciting that ps can do that with which we have had trouble ever since the first camera. And from what I hear, cs3 will make it even easier. skip |

im using photomatix
i have 2 36gb raptors in raid0 not enough room to save my exposure triplets as usual pixalolians are cool feedback givers one of my newest photoshop editing tricks is using my b/w filter on colored pic after ive done levels B/W Conversion - Photo-Plugins i make a layer mono then make a selective color adjustment layer over it tweak the b/w till dynamic range looks good then put it in luminosity and usually its a tad too light however it pulls up and alters the black grey white ratio on the colored version i love it and if i want a tint or to further play with the luminosity i use this lab mode filter broadband help » Forums » Tech and Talk » Digital Imaging » [FYI] Lab Blender minor update pog_lab_blen···lpha.zip it gives the best tint tones using random thanks for support heres some HDR info NatureScapes.Net - The High Dynamic Range (HDR) Landscape Photography Tutorial Daily Pete » HDR Tutorial: How to create ‘High Dynamic Range’ images using Photomatix photomatix manual ] http://www.hdrsoft.com/resources/Man...atixProMac.pdf http://infinitisimo.typepad.com/hdr1...drTutorial.pdf How to Create High Dynamic Range Images - - PopPhotoSeptember 2006 http://backingwinds.blogspot.com/200...dr-images.html http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tut...amic-range.htm i also luv it try it p.s. ive found better results usins capture1 to tweak white balance only on the multiple images then convert to 16 bit tiff then feed them to hdr[photomatix] got better pix with tiffs than raw in hdr convertor ![]() Last edited by automaton2 : 27-01-2007 at 15:20. |
