Another shot during my ice fishing trip on the Maine/Canadian border. This is some of the first sun rays to hit the US eastern seaboard. I had tried to get a little more detail out of the cabin, but I accidentally shot in jpg rather than RAW. Give me your thoughts, C&C.

Agree with the more detail in the cabin, but it might have blown out the sky too much, and you've got a nice moody shot here!

I reckon even as a jpg there will be more detail in that dark area if you select it and lift it with the Shadows/Highlights tool in PS. Don't lift it a lot, just enough to show a touch more detail.

I like the graduated blue sky.

By the way, did you catch any ice?

Rob - I have never tried that technique, but will give it a try (GIMP). As for the ice... I caught a whole lot more ice than I did fish. We commonly refer to it as ice drinking as opposed to ice fishing.

Do you think this is lightened up enough? Any more and the building seemed to get a bit muddy. Having some detail does improve the picture for sure. Thnask for the tip.
