First Macro Spider
Well here goes.... I saw this spider hard at work on the climbing frame in my back garden, so thought I would try a closeup shot.
![]() This is my first attempt at macro, so please critique this to help me improve. I look forward to all your comments. The spider was very obliging and stopped work for this shot! Many thanks Steve |

Re: First Macro Spider
'Tis a good shot, Steve!
Got the right combo of DOF - spider in focus but nicely blurred BG. And I'm guessing that you framed the spider against that green (as it's not flat-on, which would've been an easier comp for focus). I might be tempted to darken those lightish patches, but it's merely tinkering and no big deal! ![]() |

Re: First Macro Spider
Good shot with the web, nothing like a spider floating in space as it is easy to miss the web.

Re: First Macro Spider
Thanks for your comments!
Yes Markuluos, you guessed right! I did frame it against the green, as a straight on shot would have produced a very bright and distracting background. This was one of those.. look out of the kitchen window and take the opportunity shots, grab camera and out into the garden before the light went and the spider ran off! |

Re: First Macro Spider
Thanks Chickadee!
I try and leave my digital pics untouched if at all possible, so that I can get used to trying to get the shot right with my camera (which means I will have to use and learn alot more about my camera and exposure etc..) But I do see what you mean! Will upload some more pics later. There are some in my gallery Thanks again for taking the time to comment! Steve |
